BIOGRAPHY
[ IGOR KOVALIK ]
Born in the former Czechoslovakia and raised in Toronto, I studied film at NYU and eventually settled in Los Angeles editing at Rock, Paper Scissors.
In 1997, I opened up my own editing company that eventually became Beast Editorial. Beast grew into one of the largest commercial editorial companies in the USA with offices in LA, New York, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago, Detroit and Atlanta. Beast’s award-winning editing work touched a huge portion of the US advertising market and has serviced virtually every top brand and advertising agency in the country.
Since selling my interest in Beast to Deluxe Media, my focus has primarily been on content-creation and documentary work. I've travelled around the world shooting and creating content for the United Nations, Genesis Motors, Apple, FCA, Harper’s Bazaar, Princess Cruises, ESPN, NFL, Moet Chandon, INTEL and the Country Music Association to name just a few.
In 2017, I won an Emmy Award for a campaign I co-created for the Detroit Pistons. The Campaign also received top honors winning the 2016 NBA Marketing Award. In 2018/2019, I directed/edited two seasons of The Genesis Half-time Show for ESPN Monday Night Football.
Along with my branded clients, I have been active in the music video industry, having worked with Pink, Shakira, REM, and The Black Eyed Peas among others. I have been a creative collaborator to Linkin Park since 2007, and have been actively involved with the band's current relaunch.
I have worked on numerous long-form projects. I edited multiple movies for Harpo Films as well as HBO’s LUCK with director Michael Mann. My documentary credits includes America in Primetime for The Documentary Group, several film projects with will.i.am and additional editing for Paramount’s Katy Perry: Part of Me. Since 2021, I have worked extensively with MasterClass, writing/editing projects with Kevin Smith, Michael Lewis, Condoleezza Rice, and Astronaut Chris Hadfield.
My work has won numerous Clios, MTV Music Video Awards, Cannes Lions and a few Emmys.
